We were recently challenged by our client to deliver Lean Six Sigma training to their teams in multiple locations in the world remotely. Now Lean Sigma training calls for reasonable level of interaction and group work for it to be effective.
Nevertheless, we accepted the challenge and set about quickly reviewing our training content, games and exercises to ensure they would work in the new setting. We did not however think too much and tried not to plan every minute detail. We knew we were working with a modern workforce and everyone will adapt quickly (deep inside I was nervous though).
Well the training modules went better than planned and I must say I was pleasantly surprised (and relieved). Not only the delegates kept the interaction level flowing, the team exercises worked very well as well. Now I know remote training has been around for some time, but usually it is self-learning with course material. This was a new paradigm for us.
It was great for the delegates from a personal and family perspective too and we saved a reasonable bit in costs.
And the real winner was the environment!
